Introduction/Handicap
Hi everyone, welcome to my "Building Blog" where i will be documenting the building of my parents' "retirement home."The first steps were actually taken in December, but there wasn't much to cover in a blog. But just to get you caught up:
First, the area was dug out where the foundations were to be poured. Unfortunately, the hill was full of slate rock!

Next the well was dug; jackpot at 200ft.
We then had a trench dug out from the road to the foundation (aprox. 1500ft)
Dad and I had to lie the water, electricity, and cable lines in nasty weather. After many hours and hundreds of pipes later, we persevered.

I then departed to NYC while my Dad worked on the footer forms.
When I returned last week we finished them.
The concrete is enforced by steel which we hand cut and tied within the forms.
The concrete was poured into the footer forms today. The steel was set on bricks within to support them and provide the maximum amount of support and reenforcement.
And now this blog is caught up to current!
From now on I will be posting at least bi-weekly if not daily.
Thanks for viewing.

Hey Chris... Did you learn how to do this from me when building your last house on Brandon Park? J/K (did you see the slide show/dvd Dan made with you and your Dad.. to Aerosmith's Walk This Way??) I'll come over one day and get YOU in some pics too. You've done a great job on this. I felt like I was there looking on!
