Glorified Framing

Finally, we set the roof trusses today. NOW, you can get an idea of what this house is actually going to look like.

First, we had to go through all the trusses on the ground to organize and label them.

Then, the end trusses were decorated with rafters, plywood, and connecting pieces. (this is much easier to do on the ground than on the roof)

A finished end truss:

Getting the next one ready:

We start at the garage, and back deck.

Repositioning myself for the far end.

Fastening truss to the middle walls:

I had to jump off the wall, and run to get this shot.

Still many more to go..

Paying the crane guy, he raked in the dough today.

Hoisting up a 16fter for bracing. Bracing is imperative, or else they could collapse overnight.

Finiti!

Preparing for roof trusses

Last week was a bit slow preparing for the roof trusses. We had to set the posts for the back deck and the posts for the porch along with the garage beams (where the trusses are supported)

Working on the grage walls:

Back deck posts and beams:

The roof trusses are here, waiting to be hoisted and installed.

Setting the porch posts and beams: (the device is a laser for leveling and grading)

We're looking at 3 or 4 more days of prep before we can install the roof trusses.

Wallage of progress

This week reminded me why I moved up north. I hate the heat, and this was mild compared to summer tempuratures. I can handle sub-zero scenarios, but when the heat comes I melt.
Despite the heated onslaught, we managed to finish the main outer walls, and almost all of the inner walls. We ran out of 2x4's today, so we can't finished the interior walls until a new shipment come in.

Monday, we started building the cantilevers to support the kitchen bay window:

Then the interior walls tackled:

Before we could finish the interior walls, this last exterior wall needed to be completed:

Tommorrow, we wil begin framing the garage.

Roof trusses next week.

Walls-Mania!

Thanks to some help from our new pal Jim, last week yeilded a finished floor, and a few walls.
This week has entailed rainy weather, but even between the dry spells, we managed to add a couple of exterior walls today.
Here's the picture update (in order of sequence):
